Federal Nationals Member for Cowper Pat Conaghan says a $1.6 million Coalition Government grant will provide Nambucca Valley Christian Community School with new facilities that will cater for student growth and appropriate learning environments.
The facilities, provided under the Capital Grants Programs, include new woodwork and metalwork workshops, music studios, general learning areas, a library and a covered outdoor leaning area.
Mr Conaghan said students would benefit from the new facilities, which also feature break out areas for small groups along with staff offices, a staffroom, and a lift.
“It was great to visit Nambucca Valley Christian Community School to see the new facilities and hear about the positive impact it will have on students,” Mr Conaghan said.
“Nambucca Valley Christian Community School has a wonderful school community, and these new facilities will further enhance the learning environment.
“We are ensuring that every child gets a quality education no matter where they go to school. School funding has increased every year under our Government.
“Our Government is providing record funding for government schools, for Catholic schools and for Independent schools.
“We are delivering real, needs-based funding that is matched by national reforms that will drive better results and outcomes, as recommended by David Gonski in his Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools.”
School principal Jeff Allen said the new learning areas, spaces and specialist facilities come at the perfect time for the school.
“As technology develops and advances at a rapid pace the school with these new facilities and the support of the community and all levels of government, is now very well positioned to equip and educate its students for the future,” Mr Allen said.”
“This is particularly in the areas of creative and critical thinking, problem solving and virtual reality as part of the learning and teaching process.
“The Dedicated Literacy Learning Space is also an exciting development for our students as the school continues to experience sustained enrolment growth.”
Mr Conaghan said the Federal Government is funding improved facilities at schools, like the new facilities at Nambucca Valley Christian Community School, as part of our commitment to education.
