Major projects will continue to take shape across the Upper Hunter Electorate with funding secured in the NSW Government’s 2022-23 Budget.
“It is one thing to promise but another to deliver and that is why I am so proud the Nationals and Liberals in Government have honoured the commitments that were made last year,” Member for Upper Hunter Dave Layzell said.
“We are finalising the delivery of new fire stations for Muswellbrook and Dungog, the major upgrade of Muswellbrook South Public School and the expansion of TAFE NSW training facilities in Scone with these projects scheduled for completion during the next 12 months.”
The NSW Government also continues to prepare for major New England Highway upgrades which are funded by the State and Federal Governments.
“Allocations are in budget papers, $19.8 million to continue planning and commence preconstruction of Singleton Bypass and $14.2 million for planning and pre-construction of Muswellbrook Bypass,” Mr Layzell said.
“The commitment to the Singleton Police Station project remains on track with funds secured in the budget.”
Additional funding of $21.5 million will be allocated over eight years to maintain the Hunter Valley Flood Mitigation Scheme to help minimise flood risk.
Aberdeen, Singleton and the Paterson area have levee and riverbank protection structures which form part of the Hunter Valley Flood Mitigation Scheme.
“Floods have impacted the Hunter, Paterson and Williams River catchments several times in the past year so I will be advocating to ensure the flood mitigation scheme remains fit for purpose,” Mr Layzell added.
The State Budget also includes initiatives to assist the Upper Hunter Electorate address the infrastructure required to encourage housing construction, cost of living as inflation continues to impact household budgets and improve access to healthcare especially for patients who have to leave their community for medical treatment.
