Community halls in the Clarence Valley will be upgraded with funding under the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants program.
Federal Nationals Member of Page Kevin Hogan said $2.4 million in funding will be used to improve the resilience of public halls directly affected by the 2019 Black Summer bushfires.
“Community halls in Nymboida, Coaldale, Dundurrabin, Ewingar, Glenreagh, Ilarwil, Kungala Lanitza, Jackadgery, and Wooloweyah will benefit from this grant” Mr Hogan said.
“The work will include kitchen upgrades; drainage and water supply improvements; fire egress and resilience upgrades; accessibility improvements; solar power, battery system and back-up generators and air conditioning installations.”
These halls have played a key role in community recovery processes since the Black Summer bushfires devastated many of our rural areas. This funding will improve these facilities for community use by providing the necessary amenities to enable; community socialisation, learning and access to key services for recovery processes.
Additional projects funded in Clarence Valley through the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants program include:
• $1,542,000 for Grafton Airport Water Supply supporting aerial firefighting
• $1,818,627 for Revitalizing Disaster Resilience Facilities for Community Benefit
• $131,000 for Agricultural Drones for Weed Control & Bushfire Resilience
• $711,499 for Revitalizing Public Facilities for Community Recovery and Resilience
• $108,625 for NearMaps for Preparedness & Awareness of Disaster Recovery Resilience
