Coffs Harbour Lions Club is among 18 organisations to receive funding as part of the NSW Nationals in the state government’s $1 million Investing in Women Fund.
Nationals Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said organisations like Lions play a crucial role in our community, providing local women with the support they need.
“I’m delighted Coffs Harbour Lions Club has received $25,000 for its Coffs Harbour Women’s Shed project,” Mr Singh said.
“This initiative aims to run a number of workshops locally for women, run by women, such as basic carpentry, home maintenance, car and bicycle maintenance, self-defence, arts and crafts and health and wellbeing.
“Online workshops will be included, aimed at reducing anxiety and stress and building confidence for job interviews.”
Mr Singh said the Investing in Women Fund is about ensuring women across the state have the support, skills and opportunities they need no matter what path they are on or the challenges they are facing.
Nationals Minister for Women Bronnie Taylor said organisations like Coffs Harbour Lions Club are already doing an incredible job across NSW and this funding will ensure we can support even more women.
Since 2013, the Investing in Women Funding Program has provided more than $3.3 million to projects that support women and girls in NSW.
