Nothing is more frustrating than not being able to send a text, download an email or receive a call. But outside of the cities, not having a mobile phone signal can be a matter of life and death.
The NSW Nationals know that if you have engine trouble, get into an accident on the farm, or even hit a kangaroo, there are precious minutes for you to reach out and call for help.
That’s why we have committed $50 million from the Connecting Country Communities fund to build 21 new phone towers in regional areas that struggle with connectivity.
“Taking or making a call, fast and reliable internet access, is an essential part of our lives and we deserve the same access currently enjoyed in metropolitan Sydney.”
Deputy Premier John Barilaro
This is just the start of an ambitious goal to make NSW mobile phone blackspot free.
Together with the Federal Nationals in Government, we are setting our eyes on achieving this goal and delivering more safety and equality for the people of regional, rural and remote NSW.
