Parents, carers, and educators are invited to take part in the consultation process for the Department of Education’s Parent and Carers Engagement Framework.
The Parent and Carer Engagement Framework will outline how the education sector can work more closely with parents and carers to improve student outcomes.
Nationals Minister for Education and Early Learning Sarah Mitchell said students perform better at school when their families are engaged in their education, and the pandemic has shown there are always new ways for that engagement to take place.
“This survey gives parents a chance to tell us what they think the best ways are for their school to communicate with them and what we can improve on,” Ms Mitchell said.
“Each family and school context is unique, so it’s important for us to hear from a diversity of voices and families about what high-quality engagement means for them.”
The Department will be using the survey’s insights and input from school communities to develop the new framework.
The framework will help parents and carers better understand their rights, responsibilities, and choices in the education system, while providing access to timely information about their child’s learning, development?and?wellbeing.
