The Albanese Labor Government has not delivered a single project from its Growing Regions Program in two and a half years, starving communities of much needed economic development funding.
Federal Nationals Member for Page Kevin Hogan and Shadow Minister for Local Government Darren Chester held a roundtable discussion with local mayors to discuss their concerns about the lack of funding flowing into our community from Labor.
“It was important to have this meeting early in the new council term, to hear directly from our mayors about their concerns and their priorities,” Mr Hogan said.
“For our region, the priorities remain flood mitigation, water security, and housing availability for families.”
“Unfortunately, Labor has imposed a funding drought on regional communities, which is now well into its third year.”
“Over Labor’s first two years in office they have stripped more than $20 billion in infrastructure and programs from regional communities.”
“Local councils have been unable to deliver key priority projects as a result.”
“I will continue to stand up for our community, and make sure we get our fair share of the money coming out of Canberra.”
Kyogle Council Mayor Danielle Mulholland thanked everyone for a successful meeting, and the opportunity to raise their issues.
“Councils always work better when they work in partnership with other tiers of government,” Cr Mulholland said.
“It is really great to have Darren up here with Kevin and be able to talk to them directly about the issues that are affecting each local government area.”
“We have people who are listening, and that is so important.”
