Junior and senior cricketers in Dubbo will benefit from the refurbishment of Lady Cutler Southeast training nets, with South Dubbo Cricket Club receiving $66,215 from the NSW Nationals in the state government’s ClubGrants Category 3 Fund.
Nationals Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders said the ClubGrants Fund reinvests a contribution from the state’s registered clubs gaming machine profits back into community projects.
“The Lady Cutler nets were in need of some love, and this funding will help provide it,” Mr Saunders said.
“After a few years of upheaval due to the drought, mouse plague, and COVID-19, everyone is now racing back into community sports, so this is a fantastic time for the club to get these nets back in working order.
“These upgrades will be a fantastic opportunity to help bring more members to the South Dubbo Cricket Club.”
South Dubbo Junior Cricket Club President Greg Rummans said everyone at the club was thrilled with the news.
“It put a big smile on my face when Dugald called to let us know that we were successful,” Mr Rummans said.
“Hopefully the refurbishment of the nets will encourage more kids to come and train in a safe environment.”
Since 2013, the NSW Nationals in the state government have funded over 536 community projects worth $105 million under the Infrastructure Grants program.
