The Clarence and Richmond Valleys will soon have a raft of better sporting, community and cultural assets thanks to $400,000 in new funding from the NSW Nationals in the state government’s Community Building Partnership (CBP) Program.
Clarence Nationals MP Chris Gulaptis said the CBP program is a fantastic initiative providing relatively small grants that make a big difference.”
“Highlights include a defib for Casino Little Athletics, solar panels for Evans Head’s Living Museum, a new kitchen at Grafton’s Criterion Theatre and Dog Obedience Club, better tennis courts in Wooli and Maclean and cash grants for surf lifesaving, the Rural Fire Service and the Scouts and Girl Guides,” Mr Gulaptis said.
The successful applicants, winning grants of between $5000 and $25000 are:
Lower Clarence Tennis Association $25,000 – replace surface on two tennis courts
Wooli Tennis Club $16,000 – replacement of fencing at courts
Coraki Golf Club $16,209 – upgrade of IT equipment
Clarence Valley Conservatorium $25,569 – purchase of new equipment
Grafton Girl Guides Association $12,268 – repainting of exterior of hall
Surf Life Saving Far North Coast Branch $20,000 – purchase of surf jet ski for use along Iluka to Brooms Head coastline
Gulmarrad P & C Association $7,186 – All weather sports court refurb
Grafton Community Shed $20,000 – new Colourbond shed
Coraki Country Women’s Association $20,000 – kitchen refurbishment
Gummyaney Aboriginal Preschool $10,000 – awning over walkway
Northern Rivers Dirty Wheels Club, New Italy $8,999 – purchase of trail slasher
Fineflower Rural Fire Service $13,640 – refurbish members training area
Grafton Gem Club $7,000 – purchase faceting machine
Criterion Theatre Grafton $18,000 – upgrade of canteen/kitchen
Lawrence Golf & Sports Club $6,500 – extensions to terrace and new kitchen floor
Casino Little Athletics $5,990 – Purchase of defibrillator & cabinet
Iluka Bowls Club $16,969 – Diesel tank & electric pump
Evans Head Living Museum $8,350 – solar panels
Grafton Scouts $25,559 – new guttering, verandah and roller doors, fire alarms and floor upgrade

Braunstone Social & Tennis Club $5,023 – toilet block and guttering upgrade
Sporting Shooters Association $5,079 – electronic attendance system
Grafton Clay Target Club $8,522 – rebuild aged section of existing toilet
Yamba Public School P & C Association $14,954 – purchase new playground equipment
Lanitza/Kungala Rural Fire Service $16,000 – repairs to access road and tree removal/landscaping works
Casino Pony Club $10,910 – clubhouse upgrade
Grafton Rifle Club $20,000 – Toilet amenities upgrade
Iluka-Yamba Marine Rescue $5,000 for two remote controlled lifebuoys
Realising Every Dream, Grafton $5,000 – access for people with disability
The Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 18,000 community projects. Applications for the 2023 Program open in May 2023.
